The Government approved the allocation of 2.1 billion lei from the state budget for ensuring the functioning of the primary and secondary education institutions in the 2014- 2015 school year, IPN reports.
Minister of Education Maia Sandu said that this year the first-fourth graders, the students from socially deprived families and the fifth-twelfth graders from the Transnistrian settlements administered by the Ministry of Education will be fed free of charge.
As many as 1,090 teachers are still needed for the 2014-2015 school year. The problem of shortage will be solved by hiring graduates. The classes at universities this year total 1,281 graduates, while at teacher-training colleagues - 590.
By August 15, all the education institutions and dorms must be ready for the start of the new school year.
