The units of transport carrying frozen products will have to be equipped with recording devices to monitor the temperature regularly and frequently, ensuring in this way optimal conditions for storing frozen food. The amendments concern the normative framework on the control of quick-frozen food intended for human consumption and come to increase the safety of frozen products placed on the market, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry said that strict requirements are also imposed for instruments used in temperature control, according to international standards. Food business operators will be obliged to keep relevant documentation to enable verification of compliance of these instruments with the required standards.
In addition, temperature records shall be dated and kept by the food business operator for at least one year or longer, taking into account the nature and shelf-life of the frozen food.
The changes are made to adjust the national legislation to the European requirements.
