The case of the judge from Telenesti, who was accused of passive corruption and suspended from post, will be examined at the Telenesti Court. Prosecutors of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office sent the case to court, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The judge was caught in the act of taking US$200 from the lawyer of a side of a civil lawsuit in his office on October 11. The judge asked and took the money for rejecting the application of the other side involved in the suit.
The Supreme Council of Magistrates suspended the judge from post. He faces 7 to 15 years in jail and a fine of 20,000 to 60,000 lei. He may be also banned from holding particular posts for a period of 3 to 5 years.
