Actors, directors, dramatists and people of culture gathered together at the Actor’s House in the evening of December 21 to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Theater Union of Moldova (UNITEM). UNITEM chairman Sandu Grecu said that this day is very important as they sum up the results achieved during 65 years. He stressed that initially the Union was small, but then expanded to become probably the largest creation union in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
On this occasion, UNITEM opened a museum where there can be found photos of actors and of moments from plays. “We tried to correct a mistake. Unfortunately, over the 65 years we couldn’t keep the history and the past and what the golden generation produced before us. It is only a jubilee exhibition and an intention for 2012 as we want Moldova to have a theater museum dedicated to the great masters and their works,” said Sandu Grecu.
Actress Valentina Cucuruzac, director of the Museum of the Theater Union, said they attempted to create a bridge between the past and the future. “The past can be erased, but the future cannot be avoided as it has roots in the past. We had a fruitful past,” she stated.
Actor Nicolae Darie said the idea of opening the museum was formidable. “A book, a photo or the memories of those who watched him remain after a theater actor passes away,” he stressed.
A number of actors, directors and dramatists received diplomas and money awards on the occasion of the event.
The Theater Union of Moldova was founded in 1946 and has about 900 members.
