The 2012 International Theatrical Arts Festival BITEI, organized by Eugene Ionesco Theater, will bring together theaters from 15 countries. The tenth edition of the Festival will last for nine days and will begin on May 25 with a Korean folk music and dance performance, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Eugene Ionesco director Petru Vutcarau told a news conference Wednesday that the Festival will feature prominent theater, music and dance troupes from Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Japan, Italy, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Israel, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and the Czech Republic.
The Festival's program includes 26 performances that will be played at the theaters Eugene Ionesco, Luceafarul, Anton Chekhov, the National Opera, the National Philharmonic and the National Theater Mihai Eminescu.
“We are proud to have reached the 10th edition of the Festival. This is very important considering the host of challenges faced by culture in Moldova. Our capital will be host for other capitals, which is very important for Chisinau, which we want to become a cultural capital of Europe”, said Vutcarau.
Three performances will be held each day from May 25 through June 3. Tickets will range in price from 50 to 100 lei, with discount 30 lei tickets being available for certain groups, including persons with disabilities and pensioners.
