Therapeutic communities for prisoners addicted to drugs will be set up in national penitentiaries. A bill to this effect was given a first reading by the MPs, IPN reports.
The bill to supplement the Execution Code provides that these therapeutic communities are a physically delimited area inside the penitentiary where the beneficiaries will be subject to a series of methods for treating their dependence on drugs.
In 2018, in concert with Norwegian experts and representatives of the Council of Europe Pompidou Group, a pilot project to rehabilitate drug addicts called the Therapeutic Community was launched in Penitentiary No. 9 “Pruncul”.
The bill is to be given a final reading.
