Third Youth Parliament invested in Marian Lupu's presence
The third Youth Parliament was installed Wednesday in the presence of Speaker and Acting President Marian Lupu. The 150 members (101 MPs and 49 substitute candidates) were selected out of about 400 applicants. Marian Lupu proposed that the young persons become titular assistants or advisers to the Moldovan lawmakers. A relevant decision will be taken next week, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“This project offers you the possibility of becoming professionals. We thus make sure that a new political and intellectual elite is formed in Moldova. I wish you success in enriching your knowledge,” said Marian Lupu.
According to him, the legislative body's role is to help the young lawmakers by providing logistic support and space where they can carry out activities. The legislature, working groups and parliamentary commissions should not get involved in the work of the Youth Parliament or recommend what they should do, the Speaker stated.
The Youth Parliament project was launched in 2008 at the suggestion of the Institute of Governing Youth, in partnership with the Parliament of Moldova.
