Border police officers thwarted an attempt to smuggle 15,000 seedlings of roses and dog roses into Ukraine. The bushes were found in a minibus going to Corestauti-Novoalexeevka. It was stopped for an ordinary check, IPN reports.
According to the Border Police, there were eight persons in the vehicle, without identification papers. They said they were Moldovan citizens living in Bulboaca village of Briceni district. The driver could not present documents of origin for the seedlings valued at about 270,000 lei.
Press officer of the Border Police Daniela Manzatu said that most probably the bushes will be confiscated and transmitted to the Chisinau Botanical Garden for being planted. A final decision will be taken by the Briceni Prosecutor’s Office.
