Tourism Agency anticipates annual rise of 6% in number of foreign tourists

The main activities of the Tourism Agency in 2013-2014 will center on four main directions. The authority aims to propose amendments to the legislation and the policy documents concerning the economic sector, the international relations and marketing and logistics, IPN reports.

Tourism Agency director Nicolae Platon told a news conference that there were set out 20 priorities that will lead to the development of incoming tourism and an increase in the number of tourists visiting Moldova. The Tourism Agency projects an annual increase of 6% in the number of foreign tourists who come to Moldova.

As to the legislation, the Tourism Agency aims to work out a tourism development strategy, “Tourism 2020”, and an appropriate normative framework for registering tourist routes. Effort will be made to ensure more training courses for young specialists.

As regards the economic aspect, steps will be taken to combat illegal tourism, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and the Main State Tax Inspectorate. Among the priorities in marketing and logistics are the designing and distribution of advertising materials and video clips.  There will be organized at least four events to promote tourism and launched the information systems “Register of Tourism” and “Electronic Tourist Guide”.

Nicolae Platon said that the creation of an automobilist tourism map and of Moldova’s tourist guide in Romanian are an absolute premier for the national tourism sector.

In the area of international relations, Nicolae Platon stated that the consular relations will be improved with the countries that are more popular with the Moldovan tourists. The tourist destinations will be diversified by signing agreements with a number of states.
