Tracom employees warn of blocking traffic

The employees of the tractor manufacturer “Tracom” from Chisinau go on protesting. Over 1,000 workers demand their administration to pay their salaries delayed for half a year. They say the factory owes every employee by 8,000 lei on average, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We're fed up with promises. We want concrete deeds,” they would chant on Thursday. According to the president of the Trade Union Committee of the factory, Vasile Bainac, the managers promise to pay their salaries after selling off those 30 tractors in store. One costs 270,000 lei. Alexandru Suleimanov, Tracom's director, says the administration has asked the Agriculture Ministry for help to sell those 30 tractors, and suggested the Government may buy some of them. Both managers and employees hoped to see their problems solved after the company would have been bought by a Belorussian investor, but the talks failed. The manque joint company would have assembled tractors according to blueprints of the Belorussian side. Workers believe the talks failed because the investor wanted to buy only the assembling division, not the entire factory. They say they will protest until they get their wages, warning they could block the traffic in the area of the Government's House. Most of the Tracom employees have worked for the state-run company for the last 30-40 years.
