Two persons injured in head-on collision

An inebriated driver and a passenger were injured in an accident that involved two units of transport. Paulina Iakimovski, of the Traffic Police Division, has told Info-Prim Neo that the accident happened on the Balti-Falesti-Sculeni road after midnight. Being under the influence, the 32-year-old driver of a Ford-Tranzit minibus with a Dutch license number did not give way to a Mercedes minibus. The vehicles collided head-on. The driver of the Ford and a 26-year-old passenger sustained injuries and were hospitalized. A speeding Opel-Vectra skidded and overturned in the center of Cornesti village of Ungheni district. The 44-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with a cranial-cerebral trauma and a concussion. A Toyota struck an Opel-Vectra. A man aged 25 traveling in the Opel-Vectra suffered a concussion and facial injuries and was admitted to the hospital in Drochia. A VAZ driven by a 20-year-old man overturned on the local road Radeni – Draguseni in Straseni district. A Mercedes-320 minibus crashed into a tree in Comrat district. A passenger aged 23 was taken to the hospital with a fracture of the pelvic bones. The driver received minor injuries. Ten persons were injured in eight road accidents in Moldova on May 20. Twenty-seven traffic accidents caused no victims. Seventy-one speeding drivers and 40 drivers who were traveling with the safety belt not fastened were fined.
