A delegation consisting of representatives of the UNICEF National Committee of Belgium and the international TV channel RTL visited penitentiary No. 11 in Balti. During the working visit, the delegation inquired about the detention conditions for minors, their daily program and the specific activities carried out by the employees of the Educational, Psychological and Social Assistance Service, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions, the members of the delegation familiarized themselves with different aspects of the penitentiary environment both through the stipulations regulating the serving of punishments, the rights and obligations of children in the legal system and by visiting the cells, walking areas and the church of the penitentiary, discussing directly with the minors.

The delegation of UNICEF Belgium and RTL is paying a five-day working visit to Moldova within which they will also visit a number of children’s homes and boarding schools.
