Moldovan filmmaker Valeriu Jereghi premiered his newest short film “Milika” at the Gaudeamus Movie Theater on October 19. The same day, Jereghi celebrated his birthday. The premiere was attended by people of culture, politicians, friends and relatives of the film director, IPN reports.
The film was made in cooperation with Poland, France and Ukraine and started to enjoy the patronage of UNICEF right before the launch. The film is about a five-year-old girl whose parents divorced and remarried, leaving her in the care of her grandmother. The girl struggles to bring back her divorced parents near her. “I’m very glad that we have today spectators who are so open to this film subject because “Milika”, as “Arrivederci”, appeared not by someone’s order. Society asked for these films so that we initiated a dialogue to see what we should do further, with children in such situations,” said Valeriu Jereghi.
The main part in the film is played by the director’s daughter Emilia. “It was slightly hard for me, but I told my father that I like being filmed. In the film, the parents left Milika and she is making effort to reconcile them,” stated Emilia Jereghi.
The premier of “Milika” involved moviegoers and high-ranking politicians. “I didn’t have many occasions of attending premieres of Moldovan films. The adults who will see this film will change their attitude to the family and children. You transmitted a rather important message – that a child lives every word said by the mother and father, even if these are separated,” said Deputy Head of Parliament Liliana Palihovici.
The film also stars singer Anatol Myrzenko and lawyer Violeta Gasitoi. The role of the girl’s grandmother is played by the director’s mother Teodora Jereghi.
