The acquittal of former Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc and former commissioner general Vladimir Botnari is illegal, prosecutor general Valeriu Zubko told a news conference on Friday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “The prosecutors worked well on these cases. The acquittal sentence was appealed to a higher court. It is an illegal sentence and we will make effort to prove that these persons committed the offenses with which they were charged,” said Valeriu Zubko. Gheorghe Papuc and Vladimir Botnari were acquitted at the end of last December by the Centru District Court, as a result of a trial that lasted since June 2010. The two were indicted for misconduct in office during the April 2009 events.
