Viorel Bologan continues battles at World Chess Cup
Moldovan chess player Viorel Bologan qualified Thursday for the third round of the World Chess Cup taking place in the Russian town of Khanty-Mansiisk, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the second round, the Great International Master defeated Bulgaria's Ivan Cheparinov by 4-2 after playing four additional games.
Bologan beat Egypt's Ahmed Adly in the first round by 1.5-0.5. In the third round, he will meet Czech Viktor Laznicka, who defeated the fourth favorite of the competition, Russia's Alexandr Morozevici, in the second round.
A number of 128 chess players from 40 countries have competed in the World Chess Cup.
