Dozens of persons of culture went to the exhibition hall of the Romanian Language Museum “M. Kogalniceanu” to congratulate Vladimir Besleaga, who turned 80 on July 25. The hall housed an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the writer themed “Third Night”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vladimir Besleaga said reading has been his passion since childhood. When he was young, he wanted to go abroad to study, but did not have the possibility. Now the young people have such possibilities and he is very glad for them. “I wish Moldova to decide its political orientation and not to oscillate from side to side,” the writer said when asked by the journalists what his greatest wish was. Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who came to congratulate Vladimir Besleaga, wished him good health and thanked him for his contribution to developing literature. “Besides the literary aspect, we should speak first about the man Vladimir Besleaga, who is a highly moral and honorable person and we are deeply grateful to him for this,” said the Premier. Vladimir Besleaga gave the Premier his last work that appeared recently with his autograph. Publicist and writer Val Butnaru said the novels written by Vladimir Besleaga visibly marked the course of literature. The writer is an active citizen taking part in the social life. He has pupils and this fact shows that he has what to say, stated Val Butnaru. Attending the event, compositor Eugen Doga said he came to wish the writer many happy returns. “He is a talent and a teacher for those who only start life. He is a great person of culture,” he said. Vladimir Besleaga was born in Malaiesti, Grigoriopol on July 25, 1931. He contributed to the publications “Chiparus”, “Cultura Moldovei” (“Moldova’s Culturer”), and “Tinerimea Moldovei” (“Moldova’s Youth”) and was the editor-in-chief of the journal “Nistru”. Among his most famous novels are “Broken Flight”, “At Home”, “Pain”, “Blood on the Snow”, “Ignat and Ana” and others. Vladimir Besleaga was a member of the first Parliament of Moldova.
