War veterans' allowances increase from January 1, 2025

War veterans will receive, as of January 1, 2025, a monthly state allowance in the amount of 10% of the projected average monthly wage in the economy, and people with disabilities resulting from the war will receive an allowance in the amount of 14%. Several social protection measures have been adopted by parliament, IPN reports.

Veterans falling into two or more categories will additionally receive a 4% higher allowance. The size of the monthly allowance will be updated with each increase in the forecast average monthly wage in the economy.

The protection measures provide for the state allowance to be granted both to family members of fallen war veterans and to family members of persons disabled as a result of the war who have died. War veterans will also be granted a death grant amounting to 50% of the average wage.

Likewise, war veterans will receive medical care, compensated medicines and medical devices, orthopedic and dental prostheses, hearing aids and heart implants. They will be entitled to additional facilities, such as vocational training and retraining, as well as tax breaks, as provided by law.

The draft law on war veterans was backed at second reading by 73 members of the Parliament.
