The top prize and the trophy of the International Documentary Film Festival “Chronograph”, to the value of €1,500, were awarded to the film “At the edge of the forest” made by the young Moldovan filmmaker Ion Donica. Eighteen documentaries from 20 countries took part in the final competition, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the festival organizers, the documentary about family love “Private universe”, made by Helena Trestikova from the Czech Republic during 37 years, won the Prize for Direction of €1,000.

The Prize for Image was offered to the film “The Heat”, directed by Victor Asliuk from Belarus.

The Special Jury Prize went to the documentary of Marius Iacob from Romania “24 pails, 7 mice, 18 years”.

The cadRO trophy and the first prize to the value of 10,000 lei were given to the film “Massacre of Innocents” made by Victor Bucataru. This documentary also won a special prize of 20,000 lei.

The first prize and the trophy in the Local TV Productions section went to “Chase from Bessarabia” made by Natalia Ghilascu and Sergiu Ene.

This year the organizers included a new competitive section intended for the adolescent public - a Like for the Documentary. The section’s jury consisting of five high school students decided to give the prize to the value of €200 to the short documentary “Red carpet”, directed by Iosu Lopez from Spain, for the emotional portrait of a child who followed his dream despite obstacles.

A number of documentaries about Moldova and its people made by foreigners were screened every evening under the theme “With the eyes on Moldova”. They attracted the largest number of viewers. For the interest in the country and its people and the effort made to produce these films, the organizers decided to offer by a special prize to each of the documentaries of this category.

Organized by OWH Studio since 2001, the 11th festival “Chronograph” took place in Chisinau between May 30 and June 3.
