A 72-year-old woman from Chisinau, who was struck by a trolleybus in the morning of July 24, died in the hospital. The woman was crossing the street legally, by a crosswalk.

Contacted by IPN for details, spokeswoman for the Emergency Medicine Institute Dorina Arsene said the woman died in several hours after being admitted to the hospital. She suffered multiple head and thorax injuries incompatible with life.

The accident happened at the intersection of Ştefan cel Mare şi Sfânt Blvd and Sfatul Ţării St at about 10am. The driver failed to brake and hit the woman violently.

The driver aged 42 is being questioned by the police.
