The works to construct the Sarateni-Soroca road and the ten irrigation systems will be completed in August 2015. The Steering Committee of the Millennium Challenge Account Moldova on May 27 approved the last stage of the Compact Program, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.
In the meeting, the Committee approved the gratis transfer of 82 sets of computers, printers, GPS systems and other devices to the value of over US$180,000 to a number of public institutions. The equipment will be used to administer the one-stop office for issuing the special water use authorization.
The Steering Committee of MCA Moldova, which includes representatives of the Government, civil society and the business community, coordinates the implementation of the US$262 million Compact. The projects carried out within the program are aimed at contributing to increasing the population’s incomes, rehabilitating roads, renovating irrigation systems and stimulating the transition to high-value agriculture in 2010-2015.
The plan for finishing the Compact Program will be approved after it is coordinated with the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation.
