Works to reinforce Nemteni levee suspended
The levee in Nemteni has been rebuilt on a length of over 20 meters. After the commission of Moldova's Water Agency completes its assessment, the reinforcement works will be resumed, the head of the Ministry of the Interior's Logistics Division, Colonel Alexei Armas has told Info-Prim Neo.
“The break in the levee is still 13 meter long. The trees growing near the opening are cut. The levee is stopped up with stones and earth,” Alexei Armas said.
Since the floodwater started to advance, over 1,000 officers of the Ministry of the Interior, 300 employees of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Servicemen and almost 500 servicemen have built about 20 kilometers of levee in Hancesti district alone. After the water in some of the villages receded, the dead animals and birds began to be collected. The water in wells is being cleaned. A part of the water has been pumped out of cellars and yards.
