Zalina Marghiev to carry Moldova’s flag at Olympics closing ceremony

Hammer thrower Zalina Marghiev will carry the Tricolor at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics in London, Info-Prim Neo learned from the head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Nicolae Juravschi. The NOC chairman said that the reason for the decision is that Marghiev reached the hammer throw final and is European champion. At the opening ceremony, the country’s flag was carried by 15-year-old Dan Olaru, who participated in the archery contest. In athletics, Moldova’s colors will be represented in the last day of the Games by marathon runners Iaroslav Musinschi and Roman Prodius. On Sunday, August 12, Nicolae Ceban will enter the free wrestling competition in the 96 kg category. In this summer’s Olympics, Moldova won two bronze medals thanks to weightlifters Cristina Iovu and Anatol Ciricu.
