A family living on Zimbrului St accuses the Chisinau City Hall of favoring a private company by offering it a lot that the family used for decades as a garden, IPN reports.
Valeriu Ostalep, one of the organizers of the press conference, who lives in the area, said that the company Tophome Construct SRL, founded in March 2024, obtained in record time all the necessary documents for the construction of an apartment building at 10 Zimbrulului St. This happened during only a month, while the family that has a house nearby has been trying unsuccessfully, for over a decade, to take legal possession of the given lot.
"It is clear that the anti-corruption system does not work. The City Hall passes responsibility onto the district head, the district head onto the police and no one intervenes. The intention seems to be to destroy the nearby park and privatize the public land," said Valeriu Ostalep.
Irina Margin, who lives at 8 Zimbrului St, noted that the given plot had been used by her family for almost a hundred years. She submitted a number of applications to have the inherited land privatized, but without success. One day, two people came with a hammer and began to destroy the things out up on that lot, claiming that the land belonged to them.
"After cutting down the fruit trees, they came with tractors and destroyed everything that was there. Worse, after digging the foundation, they started to bring potential buyers to whom they told that soon our house would no longer exist," the woman complained.
Sergei Vieru, another person who lives nearby, said that the area has become dangerous for children due to heavy vehicles and the lack of safety measures. Also, the works carried out there can affect the structural integrity of the houses situated not far.
"In addition to the daily discomfort and risks for children, we also started to notice cracks in the walls. The noise is permanent and the trees are cut down without any real justification," said Vieru.
The organizers of the conference noted that they made multiple requests to the responsible institutions, but have not received any response. Moreover, the authorities are intentionally delaying the resolution of the conflict, while the company is moving forward with the works.
They demand an urgent investigation into how the company obtained the permits, clarification of the legal status of the lot and a halt to the works until the dispute is resolved.
