25 children from socially disadvantaged families will vacation for a week in the Turkish region Marmaris. The vacation was organized by the Government in concert with the Embassy of Turkey in Chisinau and with the support of the public association “Concordia Moldova – Social Projects”, IPN reports.
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, who went to the airport to wish the children a good journey, said that in summer he stayed at the hotel where the children will be accommodated and the hotel’s owner is a good friend of Moldova. This person himself proposed organizing this trip.
The Premier also said that a number of state institutions became involved in the organization of the vacation. The children needed passports and health insurance. The tickets were provided by a Turkish airline.
The group includes children from Gagauzia. These admitted that they do not know Romanian and the Premier asked the other children from the group to discuss more with their mates from Gagauzia so as to help them learn the official language.
Turkish Ambassador in Chisinau Mehmet Selim Kartal said that on October 29 Turkey celebrates 91 years of its constitution as a republic and all the children who went now on vacation will be invited to the holiday events, including marches and folk dances. The children will also taste Turkish dishes and will see a firework display.
The ambassador noted that Marmaris is one of the most beautiful Turkish regions where there are many antiquities. The children will be able to visit museums so as to familiarize themselves with the history and culture of Turkey.
Head of the public association “Concordia Moldova – Social Projects” Michael Zikeli said that none of the 25 children have earlier seen the sea. The children were selected from among the visitors of the social eateries opened by the association all over Moldova. Michael Zikeli considers this vacation will enable the children to broaden their horizons and to find out something new.
