Six vocational schools and two colleges will be absorbed by other technical vocational education institutions. For example, the Chisinau Center of Excellence in Light Industry will absorb the Chisinau Technological College. The reorganization of technical vocational education institutions is stipulated in a draft decision that was presented by the Ministry of Education and Research for public consultations, IPN reports.
Under the draft decision, the Balti Center of Excellence in Services and Food Processing will be reorganized by absorbing the Vocational School in Alexăndreni village of Sângerei district. The Balti Teacher Training College “Ion Creangă” will absorb the Lipcani College “Gheorghe Asachi.
The Vocational School in Cupcini town of Edineț district will absorb the Vocational School in Corbu Dondușeni. The Vocational School in Râșcani will absorb the Vocational School in Glodeni. The Vocational School in Orhei will absorb the Vocational School in Rezina and the Vocational School in Telenești, while the Vocational School in Ceadâr-Lunga, ATU Gagauzia, will be reorganized by absorbing the Vocational School in Vulcănești, ATU Gagauzia.
“The salaried staff of the absorbed public institutions will be transferred, in compliance with the provisions of the labor legislation, to the absorbing public institutions, ensuring their integration into the respective institutions. In case of impossibility of transferring some of the employees, the redundancy will be carried out in accordance with the labor legislation,” reads the draft.
The Ministry of Education noted that in order to ensure an efficient activity of technical vocational education institutions, a minimum of about 350 students must be enrolled in vocational schools and 700 students in colleges. Currently, out of the 77 (including three colleges subordinated to universities) of institutions managed by the Ministry, only 26 have a sufficient number of students.
