Approximately ten persons are being investigated in the case of the assassination of Ion Stratulat, a former police officer who was shot dead in Chisinau on September 19. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Corneliu Bratunov, chief prosecutor of the Exceptional Cases Division of the Prosecutor’s Office, said they do not yet have a suspect in this case. “We arrested no person yet and have no suspects. A number of persons are being questioned, but nobody was arrested officially,” said Corneliu Bratunov. The press service of the Ministry of the Interior said earlier that a suspect was arrested and is being questioned. No other details were provided in order not to affect the investigation. Ion Stratulat was killed on the afternoon of September 19 when he was at a terrace of a café in central Chisinau. According to witnesses, the murderer shot the victim in the head and the chest and then, accompanied by another individual, left the crime scene by a black BMW. Sources in the Prosecutor General’s Office told the paper “Timpul” they suspect former kickboxing world champion Ion Soltoianu of being involved in the murder.
