Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu said 75% of the money stolen from the banking system can be recovered. The issue was discussed in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

The Speaker identified three main sources for recovering the stolen money. “The first source is the property owned by the three banks that are being liquidated. There are also other sources on Moldova’s territory, including the property of persons involved in the banking frauds. The assets from abroad are another source,” stated Andrian Candu.

He also said that 30 persons were arrested over the theft committed in the banking system. After the second Kroll report, the figure will increase. “There is a larger number of suspects. The press draws attention to Filat and Shor only. The second Kroll report will be ready in about a year. This will establish the circle of beneficiaries, the schemes and final accounts. I think more arrests will be made then. Some do not trust the state institutions, but there are no reasons not to trust Kroll as this company does not have ties of kindred. Only patience is needed. The traces of the money cannot be removed,” said the Head of Parliament.

According to Andrian Candu, all the citizens of Moldova are to blame for corruption. ”When the child is born, the parents pay bribe to the doctor and then pay bribe at the kindergarten, school, lyceum and university. This is ultimately educated as a corrupt citizen. By our behavior, we all created corruption,” he stated.
