The Antimafia People’s Movement suspects that several agents of the Ciocana Sector Police Commissariat and doctors of the Emergency Hospital and of the Forensics Center were bribed to cover up the death of a 22-year-old woman from Straseni. At a press conference, the representatives of the Antimafia Movement made a public appeal for the competent bodies of the state to involve in this case, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the deputy leader of the Antimafia Movement Daniela Bodrug, on December 23, last year, Valentina Sarbu was found without any life signs near an apartment block in Ciocana. She was a student in the 4th year at a university in Chisinau. The previous night, December 22, she went with some friends to a party. The neighbors that found her called an ambulance. Three hours later, she died in the hospital. On the same day, the Ciocana Police Commissariat started criminal proceedings. Gheorghe Marzac was suspected to have driven the girl to suicide.
“On March 22, the criminal investigation officer of the Ciocana Police Commissariat Sorin Cobaleanschi writes a report charging Marzac Gheroghe with attempt of rape, which led to the victim’s death by imprudence. Despite the report, prosecutor Aurel Ciocan of the Ciocana Prosecutor’s Office, issued an ordinance demanding the end of criminal proceedings against the suspect. By examining the file, we found that the law enforcement bodies investigated the case superficially and analyzed only several elements, omitting those that might have helped to establish the truth”, stated Bodrug.
Daniela Bodrug spoke about other issues proving that the responsible bodies were trying to conceal the truth. The forensic report doesn’t elucidate the manner of Valentina Sarbu’s death. Moreover, the forensic doctor ignored the injuries suffered by the victim on her forearms in self-defense. The wound age is crucial in establishing whether the death was violent or no.
“Another important element is that although the report had to be presented in a couple days, it was presented after more than two months. This leads us think that the police and the doctor cooperated in order to formulate the final version of the report according to the police’s fabricated investigation so that the case could be covered up”, stated the deputy leader of the Anitmafia People’s Movement.
Galina Sarbu, the mother of the deceased girl, stated that her daughter died as an unknown person in the hospital as she had only the mobile phone and no IDs with her.
“My daughter couldn’t have committed suicide, she was beaten with cruelty and left to die. Her hands were bruised up to the elbows. Those who did it called the police first to conceal the case. The forensic doctor said that all the inner organs were unharmed, which is strange for deaths from high falls. The paramedics told me that the organs were destroyed, which raised many questions in my mind. I ask our responsible bodies to investigate the case and judge the criminals according to the law. I don’t want to wait until God does it. I am now afraid for my life and for my family after making these statements”, said Galina Sarbu.
The representative of the Antimafia Movement added that none of the young men who went to the party with the girl were arrested preventively. She requested Ministry of the Interior Dorin Recean to move from words to deeds as regards the reform of the Ministry. “Before fighting for better wages for cops, he should clean the subordinated institutions of criminal elements. Otherwise, criminals will only get higher salaries from the money of taxpayers and we’ll pay more for our daily sufferings and injustices committed against us”, said Daniela Bodrug.
