Best scientists of 2009 awarded

The Supreme Council for Science and Technological Development of the Academy of Sciences named the winners of the national science support contest “Scientist of the Year 2009” organized by the Academy the sixth time. University teachers Dumitru Lozovanu and Viorel Prisacari became the scientists of 2009 and received by an award of 15,000 lei each, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Academy's press service. Doctor Habilitate Dumitru Lozovanu, who is the senior scientific researcher of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Academy of Sciences, was awarded for a series of works on the integration of the theory of games and discreet optimal control. Doctor Habilitate Viorel Prisacari, who is the pro-rector of the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “N. Testemitanu”, received the award for his studies on the optimization of the system for supervising and controlling nosocomial infections in HIV/AIDS, the epidemiology of chronic hepatites, primary hepatic cirrhosis and cancer and for valuable researches in studying and producing antibacterial and antifungic preparations from locally sources material. Doctor of Chemistry Denis Prodius, who is the senior scientific researcher of the Nanocomposites and Bianorganic Chemistry Laboratory of the Academy's Chemistry Institute, was named the Youngest Scientist of 2009.
