Cristi Danilet, a member of the Superior Council of Magistracy of Romania, considers that what happened to former Moldovan judge Domnica Manole was an abuse generated by poor legislation through which the judges can be controlled by secret services. “The case of Domnica Manole is an emblematic case that will lead to the enhancement of the independence of justice,” Cristi Danilet stated in an interview for Radio Free Europe, quoted by IPN.

The Romanian judge said the Republic of Moldova should have clear legislation that would not allow interference by the authorities or the state power in the career of judges, while the members of the Superior Council of Magistracy, respectively, the judges of the Supreme Court should understand that justice should be maintained independent even by their decisions about the career of judges.

According to Cristi Danilet, Domnica Manole was removed from the Moldovan justice system abusively. Consequently, justice should be done to her and she should be rapidly reintegrated into the system, especially because there is a judgment by the Constitutional Court of Moldova saying clearly that the secret services cannot exert pressure on judges and any irregularity committed by judges or any suspicion should be investigated by the disciplinary bodies.

The Romanian judge also said that any delay in reintegrating judge Domnica Manole in the judiciary system will cost the Moldovan state as she can go to the European Court of Human Rights and it will be a pity if a judge is done justice not at home, but at the Court in Strasbourg.

In July 2017, based on appraisals by the Security and Intelligence Service, the Supreme Council of Magistracy declared the judge of the Chisinau Appeals Court Domnica Manole incompatible with the post of judge and proposed that the President should dismiss her by decree. The presidential decree was signed later the same month. The judge said this was a political order.
