The income statements for 2012 can be submitted to the local tax inspectorates by April 1 inclusive. The State Main Tax Inspectorate offered one more day for submitting tax returns given that the March 31 deadline falls on a Sunday, IPN reports.
Maia Tverdohleb, head of the Inspectorate’s Individuals Taxing Division, said in an interview that the district and town tax inspectorates will work additionally on March 30, while the tax inspectorates of Chisinau municipality on March 30 and 31, between 9.00 and 17.00. The taxpayers with digital signature can submit the tax return in electronic format at any hour until April 1, 24.00.
By March 25, the individuals presented 61,000 statements, 54,000 of which on paper. This number is lower compared with the same period of 2012. “However, the number of those who used the Electronic Statements service increased two times. Also, over 5,000 taxpayers used the Fast-Track Tax Return service,” said Maia Tverdohleb.
Under the Tax Code, tax returns must be submitted by private individuals who have two or more jobs and a cumulative salary of over 25,200 lei a year, persons who earned incomes of over 25,200 lei a year in the form of salary and from selling property, persons who earned incomes of over 25,200 lei a year from selling houses, apartments, vehicles and other property or from leasing farmland.
The private individuals pay a tax of 7% of the annual income that does not exceed 25,200 lei and of 18% of the annual income that exceeds this sum. The personal exemption in 2012 was 8,640 lei. The exemption for a maintain person is 1,920 lei a year, while for invalids from childhood – 8,640 lei.
The income tax must be paid by April 1, 2013.
