The political representatives in the Transnistrian settlement negotiations, from Chisinau - Oleg Serebrian and Tiraspol - Vitalii Ignatiev, met today at the OSCE Mission office in Bender, where they discussed the issue of human rights on the left bank of the Dniester, IPN reports.
Oleg Serebrian spoke about ensuring the free movement of citizens, the exclusion of restrictions on the work of journalists in the Transnistrian region and the elimination of the infrastructure of unauthorized posts and obstacles in the security zone, a press release of the Chisinau executive said.
The deputy prime minister for reintegration recalled the problem of Moldovan citizens illegally detained and emphasized that the investigation of cases can only be carried out by constitutional law bodies, i.e. their release must be unconditional.
At the same time, Tiraspol is obliged to remove the grounds for persecution and illegal imprisonment of citizens, including to repeal the so-called regulations on the alleged fight against "extremism", the BPR communiqué issued after the meeting in Bender reads.
The representative of Chisinau reiterated that he is waiting for guarantees and written confirmations from Tiraspol on the transfer to the balance of the Ministry of Education and Research in Chisinau of the complex of buildings on Gagarin Street No. 14 in the city of Ribnitsa, intended for the "Evrika" theoretical high school.
As for Tiraspol's initiative to finalize and formalize a draft declaration of the political representatives on Transnistrian settlement, Chisinau recalled that the parameters of settlement can be based exclusively on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
Vitalii Ignatiev, for his part, insists that criminalization of separatism is an obstacle to negotiations and to participation in meetings at the OSCE Mission headquarters in Chisinau.
In response, the Moldovan authorities gave assurances that such barriers are currently lacking and that the principle of rotation should be respected, so that meetings should be convened in Chisinau, Bender and Tiraspol, with the participation of delegations from both sides of the Dniester.
As a result of the discussions in Bender, it was agreed that working groups should be convened in the near future in certain areas, including education and health, with the participation of experts from both sides of the Dniester.
