Chairman of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia, Dmitry Constantinov, has explained the circumstances under which Evghenia Gutut can be removed from the post of Bashkan. The politician emphasized that the resignation would be possible only after the final decision of the court and, therefore, under these circumstances a new election could be organized. The speaker from Comrat labeled the arrest as "a punishment for the entire Gagauz Autonomy", IPN correspondent from Comrat reports.

However, in UTAG, according to the law, "if two thirds of the deputies vote for the dismissal of the Bashkan, a referendum to this effect can be organized within 30 days at the latest."

Bashkan Evghenia Gutul was detained at Chisinau airport while trying to leave the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the law enforcement officials said. According to prosecutors, unknown persons from Russia bought Guțt tickets to Moscow via Istanbul. Evghenia Gutul is accused in a case of illegal financing of the Shor party.
