The decision concerning the holding of a referendum on the reduction in the number of MPs from 101 to 61 and the recalling of MPs who disappointed simultaneously with the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019 will be put to the vote in one of the next plenary sittings of Parliament, IPN reports.

The leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc, after the weekly meeting of the party, said he requested the Democratic MPs to draft and adopt the decision so that the responsible institutions have time to organize the elections in the best way.

The PDM considers that by this reform the legislative body will be optimized and will become more effective. The MPs will be much more responsible and their activity could be more efficiently supervised by society.
