Early intervention facilitates inclusion of children with developmental disorders, study

Early and appropriate intervention in the first years of life can change the developmental trajectory of children with disorders, including disabilities, facilitating their later social and educational inclusion, finds a study presented today in Parliament. The analysis covered services for children up to the age of 5 in the districts of Floresti and Ialoveni, and revealed key data on the impact of early intervention, IPN reports.

The evaluation sample included 293 children, beneficiaries of early intervention centers.

The results of the evaluation showed that addressing the needs of children and families holistically, intersectoral and interdisciplinary, as early as possible, has a lasting and undeniable impact on child development.

Participants at the hearings mentioned the need to expand early intervention services, strengthen knowledge about child development and promote respect for children's fundamental rights, all of which together also contribute to changing mindsets.

The head of CNAM, Ion Dodon, emphasized that since 2020, the number of contracted early intervention service providers has doubled and the budget allocated for these services has tripled, reaching 22 million lei in 2025.
