A financial support program for the databases of local public administration institutions was launched. More than 85% of the mayor’s offices submitted participation files and only ten gained access to the program to offer public services of a higher quality, IPN reports.

The local authorities included in the program will benefit from expertise and technical support to develop local policies, to strengthen the skills to access national and European funds, to attract investments and develop the public-private partnership. They will also be able to receive financial support for the implementation of local initiatives and policies in response to demographic changes.

"We face challenges related to the use of population datasets, and this program is a strategic investment in the future of our country," said Andrei Strah, Deputy Secretary General of the Government. He added that the program falls within the zero European integration priority.

The program is carried out on the basis of projects financed by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova, with implementation and co-financing from the UN Population Fund UNFPA.
