The Transnistrian conflict shouldn’t be a subject for political speculation and for the satisfaction of narrow party interests, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said during the examination of the censure motion against the Government, IPN reports.
Marian Lupu accused the Communists of trying to politicize the subject and this hampers the conflict settlement process. “The configuration of power is different and the responsibility for the country’s statehood is equally born by the power and the opposition,” he stated.
According to him, the way the Communists imposed the examination of the censure motion distanced the prospects of solving the dispute. “The solidarity of the political class on the Transnistrian issue is a factor that will determine the settlement prospects,” said the Democratic leader.
Marian Lupu stated that the setting up of migration points was a condition for liberalizing the visa regime. “We have a visa regime with the Eastern side. Do we also need a regime with the Western side? Yes because it is for the benefit of the people from both banks of the Nistru River,” he added.
The Democratic leader considers that the PCRM will continue the actions against the authorities. Their only goal is to stop the process of modernizing Moldova. “The subjects will be different. This makes me think that this process focuses not on the Transnistrian dispute. It is aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country. It is an attempt to distract attention from the Government’s top priorities,” said Marian Lupu.
He expressed his confidence that in Vilnius Moldova will initial the Association Agreement with the EU, which will be then signed and ratified by Parliament by the next legislative elections.
