Marian Lupu thanks WWII veterans for bravery and heroism
The Moldovan Speaker and interim President, Marian Lupu, congratulated the WWII veterans on the occasion of the Victory Day. In his message, the official thanks them for their bravery and heroism, and wished them many years of peace, health and full of energy, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We bow down before you and wish you to enjoy the respect and gratitude of those whose future you saved! Today, the whole world celebrates the heroes, whose bravery and dedication remain a defining moral compass for contemporary generations and an example of how to serve the Fatherland”, the message reads.
Marian Lupu stresses that May 9 is a luminous holiday, which commemorates the tragic, yet heroic times when the great victory over Nazism was achieved. “People from different generations sacrificed themselves in those harsh times, but these brave people faced the horrors of war with dignity and, today, have the right to be proud. Their force, faith and optimism served the Victory, the obliteration of fascism”, says the interim President.
Marian Lupu added that the memory of the fallen ones will remain in everyone’s heart, alongside the pride for those who defended their fatherland and raised it from ruins. “You saved countries and peoples from the fascist wrath, you rebuilt villages and cities. From you, we learned to love our Fatherland, the land of our ancestors. For all this, we bow down before you”, reads Lupu’s message to the veterans.
He thanked them for their stoicism, wisdom, patience and optimism. “I thank you for defying all difficulties and telling our sons and grandsons the truth about those dark times, so that we don’t forget how fragile peace is and what efforts are needed to keep it”.
May 9 marks 66 years since the Soviet front ceasefire after Germany’s unconditional surrender in World War II.
