Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Burmacov has dismissed as misquoting reports that bread prices will rise. “What I really told (a private TV channel) was that if the price of wheat were to rise by 0.6 lei, with the cost of bread representing 30%-40% of that of the wheat, then the cost of bread would also increase by 0.2 lei, again, if no intervention was made to the value chain. It was just a mathematical calculation, and not an official statement. I was obviously misquoted”, Bumacov told Info-Prim Neo. Several media outlets earlier reported that the price of bread will go up by 0.2 lei, quoting the Minister. On a different note, Vasile Bucamov has confirmed that he will be in Vlad Filat’s delegation when he will visit Moscow on September 10 and 11. The Minister will meet his Russian counterpart, as well as representatives of Rospotrebnadzor and Rosselhoznadzor.
