Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine will present a joint statement on the European perspective at the Riga Eastern Partnership Summit of May 21-22, IPN’s correspondent in the Latvian capital reports.
Vlad Turcanu, adviser on communication to President Nicolae Timofti, asked the journalists to wait for the summit to end so as to see the given statement presented by the delegations of the three states. “We had discussions on such an initiative before the summit as well. In general, Moldova had discussions not only with the European partners, but also with the EaP countries that undertook the European course and want a political rapprochement with the EU,” stated Vlad Turcanu.
Asked if the head of state knows about the symbolic membership statement submitted by civil society to the EU, Vlad Turcanu said he knows about it. Moreover, Nicolae Timofti wanted himself to file an official application for accession, but postponed this initiative for a period given a number of factors, including the regional situation.
