The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family proposed the draft Government decision concerning the initiation of negotiations on the agreement on cooperation in labor migration between the Moldovan and Russian Governments for public debates. Under the draft decision, by the agreement the sides will pledge to cooperate in regulating the migration flows and creating legal working conditions for migrant workers, to exchange statistical data and to recognize documents of study obtained by migrant workers, IPN reports.
Thus, the migrant workers will have the right to obtain free information about the procedure for entering, leaving and working on the territory of the employing state and about the rights and obligations deriving from the legislation of the employing state from the competent authorities of the country of residence.
The pay of migrant workers will not be lower, while the working conditions will not be less favorable than those set for the citizens of the employing state, who hold the same post, have the same specialty and qualification and perform a similar activity. The migrant workers will be offered medical assistance at the expense of the employer, in accordance with the legislation of the employing state.
The draft agreement also provides that the family members of the migrant worker will be able to stay on the territory of the employing state during the period of validity of the migrant worker’s permit of stay. The benefit for accidents at work or an occupational disease will be set and paid in accordance with the legislation of the state where the accident occurred. In case of a work accident that led to serious injury or death of the migrant worker (insured), the employer will cover the costs of transportation to the permanent domicile.
When the negotiations are over, the signing of the accord will be approved in accordance with the legal procedures.
