The leaders of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) Maia Sandu și Andrei Năstase use the situation around the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the alleged financing of parties by the Foundation “Open Dialog” to make victims of themselves and they are successful in this attempt, IPN quoted political analyst Anatol Țăranu as saying in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel.
According to him, what the politicians do in this period is related to the future election campaign. Maia Sandu does the same in a rather successful way. “She powerfully hit the ball passed to her by the political opponents. How can one constitute a parliamentary commission before the election campaign, which is full of political opponents of Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase and these should examine the two?” asked Anatol Țăranu.
The analyst noted the opposition leaders play the situation. “The state secret is invoked. What state secret? Be serious! The press knows all these things,” said Anatol Țăranu.
He also said three is substance in this case related to “Open Dialog” and it should be determined how Russia becomes involved, including by organizations accredited by the EU that work in the European area. “Everyone knows that Russia spends enormous sums of money for using these instruments and intervening in such zones as the Republic of Moldova,” stated the analyst, noting the moment before the election campaign wasn’t chosen correctly because it diminishes the efficiency of the idea based on which the parliamentary commission was set up.
Journalist Constantin Olteanu said these zigzags show that not Maia Sandu takes the decisions she makes public. “It seems to me that Maia Sandu is afraid of particular questions that could be put by the commission and she decided to better transmit her message at the door of the Parliament Building than to go there and be put in the situation to answer rather inconvenient questions, I suspect,” he stated.
The commission of inquiry for elucidating the circumstances of the presupposed interference by the “Open Dialog” Foundation in Moldova’s internal affairs and financing of political parties held the second and last round of hearings on November 12. Representatives of “Promo-LEX” Association and the leaders of PAS and PPPDA were invited to the hearings. The latter said they refuse to take part in the hearings if the press does not have access.
