Police annihilate international criminal group smuggling heroine

The police identified an international criminal group specialized in smuggling heroine into Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the group consisted of two residents of Chisinau and a couple from Uzbekistan that lived earlier in Moldova. The foreign citizens were responsible mainly for transmitting the heroine from Russia, while the Moldovans sold it. About 100 grams of a substance looking like heroine were found on a bus running on the Chisinau – Saint Petersburg route, which was stopped at the Otaci-Moghiliov-Podolsk border crossing point on January 6. Upon a search of suspects’ homes, there were found another 2 grams of heroine. The 102 grams were valued at over 600,000 lei. The investigators established that the Moldovans transferred US$12,000 overall to Russia in exchange for drugs that were allegedly sold in Moldova. The police said all the members of the group had been earlier tried for similar offenses.
