Record seizure of 580 kg of explosives at Belarusian border

A man on Sunday tried to cross the Belarusian border with over 580 kg of explosives camouflaged inside his car with Moldovan registration numbers. Belarusian customs officials said they foiled an attempt to smuggle the largest amount of explosives ever discovered, IPN reports.

The explosives were discovered at the "Brest" checkpoint on the Polish-Belarusian border during the examination of the car,  according to a press release of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

The source noted that the 41-year-old driver intended to reach the Russian Federation through Belarus. The man was arrested and faces up to 10 years in prison.
