An air mass loaded with Saharan dust particles, observed in the southern and central regions of Europe and the neighboring country Romania, will also reach the Republic of Moldova. Nadejda Stolear, head of the forecasts section of the State Weather Service, has told IPN that the phenomenon will affect Moldova on March 11-12, but dust deposits will not be visible to the naked eye.
The phenomenon is due to an atmospheric circulation, predominantly southern, which is associated with an Atlantic cyclone westward the continent.
"Respectively, the southern flow favored the movement of dust over the Mediterranean Sea, reaching southern Europe, later extending to the regions of our country, along with the high temperatures projected for the immediate period," said Nadejda Stolear.
It is estimated that the dust will gradually disperse with the change in wind direction and the precipitation forecast for the coming days.
Such episodes can reappear depending on the dynamics of atmospheric systems in North Africa and Europe.
