The salaries of mayors, deputy mayors, district heads and deputy heads will be increased by 33%-48% from April 1, depending on the number of residents of the settlements, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under a bill with amendments to the Law on Pay Grades in the Budgetary System that was approved by the Government, a village mayor will receive 5,400 lei, as against 3,700 lei at present, while a mayor of a town with 20,000 inhabitants – 6,800 lei, as opposed to 4,800 lei. The mayor general of Chisinau municipality will have a pay of 9,500 lei As many as 1,143 persons will benefit from pay raises. The bill is to be adopted by Parliament.
