Scholarships to study abroad

About 6,000 scholarships to study abroad will be provided for the 2015-2016 academic year based on the over 50 international treaties signed by the Government of Moldova with the governments of other states. The largest number of scholarships will be available for Romania, IPN reports.

According to a communique of the Ministry of Education, the education programs of the governments of such states as France (French Alliance); the U.S. (Flex, Fulbright, Muski and other programs), and Germany (DAAD) represent an opportunity for studying abroad. A number of 5,500 scholarships will be offered for studying in Romania. Those who want to study abroad will be also able to choose from among such countries as Russia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, China, and Qatar.

Starting with January 1, 2014, the Moldovan young people can apply to mobility programs within the new EU program for education, training, sport and youth “Erasmus+”, intended for the EaP countries. The students from the EaP countries will be able to get subsidies for taking part in the EU master’s programs and to apply for doctoral scholarships within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Program, which is a new component of the Research and Innovation Program Horizon 2020.

The young people can also choose to take part in the academic mobility programs provided by international and regional organizations, such as the Council of Europe, UNESCO, the Central European Initiative, and the Central European Exchange Program for University Studies.

Information about the scholarships can be found on the Ministry of Education’s website www.edu.md, the scholarships division.
