The insurance market in Moldova is threatened by some cartel deals between 6 insurance companies that try to block the access on the market for 12 companies and 70 brokers. This was the topic of a press conference held on Tuesday by the head of the Democratic Action Party Mihai Godea, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mihai Godea communicated that the 6 insurance companies that have the right to issue the International Motor Insurance Certificate or Green Card synchronized their action and on September 10 initiated the mass termination of intermediation contracts with broker companies. As a result, the customers are forced to buy the Green Card directly from one of the 6 companies that initiated this move and, through various schemes, are encouraged to give up other insurance services provided by brokers. Thus, smaller insurance and broker companies are driven into bankruptcy. “We can say we are witnessing a raider attack against broker companies on the insurance market”, stressed Mihai Godea. The PAD leader claims that not only workers in this area will be affected, but all the Moldovans who will become “prisoners of a cartel that imposed its control on the insurance market”. The PAD leader submitted an official notification in his MP capacity to the National Commission of the Financial Market and to the National Agency for the Protection of Competition and officially requested the Parliament's Commission on Economy, Budget and Finance to meet and analyze the situation.
