Textbook for studying organized crime presented in Chisinau

A textbook for those interested in studying organized crime and how it can be prevented was presented in Chisinau on September 9. Igor Godunov, the author of the book “Organized Crime from Sunrise to Sunset”, voiced hope that the textbook will be useful. He said that in Moldova there is a shortage of literature on this subject,” Info-Prim Neo reports. Igor Godunov is from Chisinau, but has lived in Moscow for 25 years. He is doctor of jurisprudence and the author of a number of works on organized crime and terrorism. According to him, the organized crime consists of four parts: shadow economy, drug smuggling, terrorism and corruption. The author analyzes the essence, particularities and development of the organized crime, its role and importance of international cooperation in the prevention of organized crime. The book includes a glossary of terms. “The organized crime is a black box, whose structure is not known and not studied,” Igor Godunov said, adding that he intends to translate all the editions of the book into Romanian. The former prosecutor general of Moldova Valeriu Balaban, who is the national coordinator of the Threshold Country Program, said that the textbook must be studied by police officers, students and investigative journalists. “We should study this area in order to fight organized crime and identify its sources,” he said. “The book describes real situations from our society. These criminal activities should be in the spotlight so that the people know about them. I want to know more about the environment where I live and work,” said businessman Viorel Stoianov, who contributed to the appearance of the book. The third reviewed edition of the book “Organized Crime from Sunrise to Sunset” was printed in Chisinau, while the first two in Moscow.
