US$500 bribe for granting disability degree
The medical registrar of the Soldanesti family doctors center was caught in the act of taking US$500 bribe for granting a second disability degree to a person, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Vitalie Briceag, subunit head at the Ministry of the Interior’s Fraud Division, told a news conference that immediately after arrested, the person admitted his guilt and said he received the money at the instruction of the head of the Vitality Examination Center of Soldanesti district, who is the wife of the head of the Soldanesti family doctors center.
“The married couple asked for and received the given sum for granting a disability degree. The victim is indeed an invalid and was to receive the disability degree without giving bribe, but the couple created an artificial situation in order to hinder the given person from receiving the documents,” said Vitalie Briceag.
The culprits face three to seven years in jail and a fine of 20 000 to 60 000 lei over passive corruption. They will be also banned from holding particular posts for a period of two to five years.
